In Pablo Baresch’s work, the body appears subjected to forces that render unpredictible the boundaries between the human, the animal, and the landscape. His hybrid figures inhabit a threshold between the natural and the imagined, driven by a desire to merge with the earth and surrender to processes of transformation that exceed their own will. Marked by a constant tension between contemplation and violence, they emerge as ambiguous presences that challenge any fixed notion of identity and suggest a porous, ghostly mode of existence.
His work draws on ancient allegories, religious iconography, and the experience of the landscape he has inhabited since childhood. These references converge into a personal mythology in which bodies, animals, and nature form a symbolic constellation sustained by mutual dependence.
Drawing constitutes the core of his practice. The immediacy of the medium allows him to construct a fiction of dynamic lines and fractured forms that accompany the movement of ideas from their emergence to their materialization. In contrast, painting introduces a different temporality. Bodies acquire a silent, sculptural presence, settling into the landscape like icons upon which time and the environment leave their mark. Between observation and mystery, both mediums seek to approach that which remains concealed, revealing a reality in which the visible and the invisible coexist in suspension.
